Lianna's Visit
Aug. 9th, 2005 08:05 amThe visit with Lianna was pleasant.
I don't think I've had the great opportunity to talk with any of my friends, even those who are close in proximity, that much - in months.
It was much needed for the both of us.
We went to lunch at Pike Place Market and walked around Seattle briefly. Then we hung out in my front yard in the cozy quad chairs I bought recently. So happy I got those. It's been a serious advantage to actually be able to USE my yard this summer. I am liking it a lot.
It's good to hear about the happenings on that side of the world.
Though it's hitting me - she probably won't be coming back from Spokane, seeing as her guy is from that area too, and so is the SCA community she is involved with. Sad, sad.
It's also weird how she speaks of the Seattle area, after having left it to live east of the mountains.
She no longer holds that "local," perspective on it. Things like traffic, the ocean, and the general climate are now becoming a noticed "different," aspect for her. This is strange, seeing as we were locals here together [during school and stuff, Junior high, high school, etc etc...]
I remember the days when it was easier to hang out. And we did.
When I could get away from Steve.
Anyhow... overall, it was good.
It does motivate me to eventually make the journey to Spokane in a month or so.
End of September, beginning of October sounds most attractive to me.
Perhaps I can go to an SCA event with her and meet the people in her community. That could really be cool.
I remember when she first showed me the SCA papers. Wow. I knew that it'd be life changing for her - and I knew it was a step in a better direction than where she was. Though, I still could never have imagine quite the extent of this. That was a year ago. Wow.
