Finally off work.
And out of jail. Because - everyone loves to work in the jail on a Friday night.
No lunch, I worked 7AM-8:30PM.
I missed Sword circle meeting.
Let me say this; I have never had a bad Friday the 13th in my life.
Until today.

Yikes.

At least I get comp time.
And, I earned my Mountain Dew that I just guzzled. Yes. I DESERVE the sugar.
Least the night jailers were likable.
And there were less inmates out and about.

I can't remember if I've mentioned this before or not, but one of my previous jobs would occasionally have me visiting a correctional facility or three. I once worked out of Medford, Oregon as a copier repair tech. I worked on other office equipment as well. My toolkit was large and included so many items in it that I would snicker about when being led into controlled areas of these facilities. Signs would specifically dictate that no items of such-and-such nature were permitted beyond a certain point. But if the copier goes down and needs service, that rule is apparently suspended. Is it the same for computer repair? Or do you just do an equipment swap?

And it was always nice to be able to leave the jail, camp, minimum security facility or whatever under my own power and my own free will. Feel the same way, do you?

Yeah?

I didn't know that. Copier repiar tech, huh? I usually take whatever I need down there, and folks don't question me. They all know who I am, seeing as we're a small city and I've dealt with nearly all of our employees at one time or the other in 4 years.

It really is the same. We can always say, "well, if I cannot have this down here, then you will not have your machine up today then..."

I've never had to do that, though.
Once, when I was still interning here, the folks at the pool (front desk lady) gave me crap for walking on the pool deck with shoes on. (I was trying to get to the boiler room machine.) It annoyed my boss and ever since, he told me to barter these situations with the lack of functionality to machines.

:)

I feel great whenever I can leave the jail, knowing that I am leaving of my own free will - unlike the many inmates you see while you are there.
