Yesterday was a busy day at work when I got in. I immediately forgot that I had an 8 o’clock with a vendor to get the power adapters re-wired in all of the squad cars.
Conveniently, I had left my Nextel at uncharged by mere absent-minded ness. They called looking for me.
Luckily I noticed my Nextel’s dead battery in time to put in a new one and realize I had new voicemail. It appeared pretty seamless because Dispatch paged me and I told them I’d be right over.
I met the folks and got the keys to the cars. Meanwhile Dispatch was having a problem with their query program. They were pretty adamant even though I knew it was something that *could* wait. So, I began working on this while working with my vendor on the power adapters.
And then Chris paged me saying someone was waiting for me in the office.
“What?” and to myself I thought, “Did I set up another appointment and forget who that was with??? Aw, fuck.” Little did I know, it was our usual Tuesday Team Meeting and that it was our department waiting on me, and not somebody else. Once I finished up my business with dispatch and the vendor and the cars, I headed back to the office only to realize it was Team Meeting time. I had entirely lost track of time.
And I felt better that I had not forgotten TWO appointments in one day. I had just failed to realize it was Tuesday and every Tuesday at 9AM we have our Team Meeting.
This Team Meeting was painless because someone I like less than I wish, is on vacation.
The meeting went quickly and I was back at the tasks.
Hm. More to follow. Maybe? I was in the middle of writing this when I got interrupted. lol.
