Birthday Surprise [Puppy.]

Monday kicked some serious butt. I went to see Kelsi and hang out with her. Travis and Kelsi are officially not together, and Kelsi is pursuing another relationship. This, to me, is a great step forward for her. And I hope everything goes well. Firstly, I stopped by and picked her up. Secondly, we took my dog to the park. Talked. That was fun. We then went to my parents’ and dropped Rufus off. Hung out there briefly, then went to Subway and had lunch.
I was just so at ease and happy to be able to talk to her, and be her friend. I realized how very much I had missed that.
So, yeay for that aspect. I hung out with her, Travis, and Amanda, [their room mate] for a while at their apartment. It was even okay talking to Travis. But it was more than okay talking to Kelsi.
Amanda seemed nice. Wouldn’t mind getting to know her better. I’m excited to see Kelsi again. After much relaxing and just seeing Kelsi… [excitedly hearing about her other guy]… I had to go get my mom.
We then went out to my house to meet James [and incidentally ran into dad …] to look at Dachshund puppies for mom. Steve would have been there but he forget he had school. Bummer!
So we finally went down there to see the pups.
We went to visit a litter of Dachshund puppies yesterday, and it was a lot of fun. There were only 4 in the litter... my parents want a little girl so that they can someday have puppies too. But there was this handsome little boy red and tan [Rufus is just red] puppy, and I fell in love with him. I was really against considering it, but even my stupid fuddy duddy brother who doesn't like dogs began trying to talk me into putting a deposit down on the puppy. Then they were like, "you wanted to know what you could get for Steve for his birthday!" And then I was like, "oh yeah... good idea.... yes.." of course... it was kind of a good idea. Except that when I told him, he was totally disappointed. He kept stewing over the fact he wants a German Shepard... but we both know that's not going to happen until we've got a house of our own. Before we went to bed, though, he started to be less of a grump about it. He just said it was a "shock."
So. We discussed it with my mom and decided that it would be really fun to have 2 from the same litter. She said that whenever we can't take care of it [due to lousy time constraints!] that we could just drop him off over with their puppy.
So, I decided on it and impulsively, I'm getting a puppy for Steve. He was just in shock and I guess like everything else.... he's slow.
James even suggested a name that I like... Fritz

Who could resist that? Well, not me. Normally, I'd have been a grump too, and said no, we don't need another dog. I know Rufus loves babies. He adores babies. And I also know that this one seems like it would be a really sweet dog. So, I'm at a loss. Good thing I have an income tax return coming! James had been telling me to do something "fun," with my return. He haunted me with that again when I decided on the puppy. So… beginning of April, I’m getting the newest edition… Fritz. Any ideas for female names for my mom? I’d APPRECIATE THEM. Female little girl Dachshund!!!
You [collective] should soooo come and visit it when we get it! We'll probably get it in the beginning of April. It's not quite 4 weeks old. We'll get it at 7, probably.
They were born on February 4th.
Eeeep. It’ll be fun. Yeay for training. Steve’s intimdated. But I’m not. I also forget. Steve’s slow. He accepts everything slow. And mommy never let him have any pets when he was a kid. So he’s not like me. Pets are not NEWS for me. Steve needs to learn to work with a puppy on a small dog before he tries to do it a few years down the road on a BIG German Shepard.
Anyway. That’s the latest. I think I’m all up to date.
