I'd like to say one irritated thing; my boss says a lot of off handed statements perhaps in jest, perhaps partially serious that occasionally make me feel bad. Few and far between, but none the less.

So today he was asking if my knee was bothering me, because it was apparent. I'd done a lot of walking.standing work in our "project" today.
So I told him yes, everyday.

I filled him in on my doc's updates saying that the doc said after more months it would go away.
He then replied, "did you ask him what would happen when you get old?"

No, I haven't had a real lunch yet and I've been working since 6AM.
Yes, this did really irk me.
I am trying really hard to be positive. And these statements fuel fears that he can scarcely imagine.

Lastly - Tim figured out a short cut that would have made the entire day's work, pretty much not have to have happened - right as we finished our last upgrades.

Annoying co worker was in charge of this big move.
End of story. I'm happy and trying to not let my boss and his cynicism of old age cloud my own hope. Am I being over sensitive, or was that inappropriate?

Dickish. He has no idea how hard this has hit me mentally. He really, really does. ANd I have no idea what to say to it so he'd stop saying shit like this every now and then.

that was definitely dickish. what business is it of his anyway? by the time 'old age' hits either you or he will be in a different job or retired, most likely, so he must only have asked it to scare you which again, is definitely dickish.
