Beyond Words
Sep. 19th, 2011 12:10 pmHere to write the quickest quickie possible. In 30 minutes, we get to meet Bikram. Rajashree is as amazing as everyone says she is. I had a great first day yesterday. Everything is really just ramping up. We’re all settling. A lot of shopping is happening, a lot of unpacking for me. I don’t know where some things I swore I’d packed went, but I do know I have ALL of my yoga gear and will be good to go. It’s the rest of my street clothes that are annoying!
So many people everywhere. So many yoga folks. It’s just amazing to meet everyone. A lot of people already recognized me, and my reputation for the social butterfly has briefly made it’s appearance.
Yesterday I flew in, got off the shuttle van, walked straight up to the check in desk and my room was ready. Not everyone’s was. I went up to my room, dropped off my stuff – noticed that my roomie – Karen Wong (AN AWESOME< REALLY LAID BACK AND CLEANLY) positive great girl, is my roommate – and she had not been to the room yet.
Dropped off my stuff, went downstairs. Eventually grabbed lunch on my own a sports’bar at a hotel down the street.
Came back, got in line to register. Actually. I started the line for N-Z. I was the second person (a girl cut in front of me at the last minute, go figure) to get my books – and so I went away quickly and was able to grab the lunch I mentioned before we had to be at orientation. Orientation was good. I’d go into it but it’s really nothing exciting beyond “Don’t push yourself this first week. Just ease in.”
I was happy with that.
Stay hydrated, and a bunch of other stuff.
Today we met Raj, and I am taking a quick break before we go to meet Bikram himself for our pre-class lecture (between 12:30-??) Probably no later than 4, as our VERY FIRST class, with Boss himself is going to start at FIVE! But we’ll all be checking in at 4:30. This is pretty epic and I am nothing but STOKED for our first class. It’s amazing getting to meet these people who were just in books. I’ve already decided there is no way to put any of this into words. None of it. I’ll do my best, but I am already feeling like the experience is so … beyond words.
I’m just soaking it all up and so far I think I will do pretty well here. I don’t like to see things from the glass half empty – really truly. This stuff is my passion. And people are my passion. That is why so far, so good. But you know – no one has gotten uber tired or anything yet!
Off to go to lecture now!
