I am leaving early; at 5:00PM today.
That’s pretty cool.
In other news... last night was cool.

An unpleasant scheduling issue surprised and ailed me today. I AM working Monday, December 27th. I had some plans during the day that day. Growl. Basically; the plans get moved to the night time, and I will be coming in to work at 9AM instead of 7AM. Gah.

Only an 8 hour shift, vs. my usual 10 hour shift... but I had just hoped I could blatantly not have to deal with working that day. Oh well. Julie is gone with vacation time, and that would only leave Tim here. That won’t work. So; my Monday gets utilized.

I’m a bit sleepy now. But that’s okay. Not REALLY sleepy. Just mildly.
It was great to see Kelsi and Mel and have more friend time.
And of course, Ryan’s presence is always fun.
We gave Ryan his giant truffle box. He seemed to like it.
The gift exchange was fun. I stayed up later than I typically do on a work night. It just took me back to the days Steve and I would seemingly argue until oh-god-o-clock in the morning, and I’d work the next day.

This was far more pleasant. So I justified it this way. I haven’t felt more complete in a very long time. I missed time with both Mel and Kelsi. I don’t think the 3 of us have connected the way we have this week since Sophomore year in high school. I’m thrilled that things have improved. The bond that I share with Kelsi and Mel are pretty unique. I thought for sure I could never connect with them again and that it was something that had died.

These are the things that make me happy. Nothing could have made my evening better than the realization that I am indeed still able to share time with these folk, and be a part of their lives.

You normally work 10 hour days? Do you work 5 days a week for a 50 hr/week schedule?

And it's always nice knowing you can go back and reconnect with those people who were closest to you at one point. I've found myself somewhat craving the sensation lately, but that might have something to do with one of my friends suddenly deciding she didn't like me very much.

I work 4-10's, with 3 days off. So just a regular 40 hour work schedule.
And that's fine with me ;)

:D

Right now; I'm reconnecting with a lot of people. And it's WONDERFUL.

Yeah, I think I would prefer a 4 day week rather than a 5. It takes up less of your life, I think, when you concentrate it that way.

I haven't been able to keep in touch with many people from earlier periods of my life, so I've been trying to make new friends (some of whom I've created great connections with) and when I run across someone I used to know, I latch on and try to rediscover the old connection.

I was at the "creating new friends," point in about 2002. I did create some pretty striking connections, also.

But now, especially right before I broke up with my 4-year relationship involving Steve... I began drawing some of my old connections alongside the new. And even MORE so now, I am running across people I really wanted to maintain with.

That's why I was pretty excited to see your message on my livejournal! After the first of the year we could probably find a good time to meet up and talk and catch up and stuff. End of December is so insane. At least it is for me this year~!
Hope your trip, where-ever you're going, is safe and awesome~!

Well, there are some who say that you draw to you what you want/think about...and if you're drawing in old connections, and I'm drawing in old connections, it was just bound to happen.

I second the "sometime in 2005" idea. I think the next couple weeks might just be some of the most hectic of the year. Then again...I take it back. I've had worse this year.

I'll be up at my Dad's house in Mt. Vernon for the next week...should be lots of good food and presents, although I'm somewhat nervous, too. I've decided to finally tell them that I got back together with the boyfriend he doesn't particularly like much...it'll either go over very well, or it'll kill the holiday. Eeep.

Hopefully your holidays aren't quite as nerve-wracking as that...
