Yesterday was pretty cool—though I can’t help but feel I wasted the evening of free-time doing something I rarely ever do—nap. Perhaps with all the hiking, that extra boost of rest will keep me from getting sick anytime soon, so I can become more fit again. This will be my rationale and hope.

I went to work. That was alright. I got off early and hiked Tiger Mt. for the third time this week.

That makes life so much better for me. I forget so much of how much I need the mountain, trails... perhaps even just the solitude, and silence of the forest. The steady rhythm of my heavy, sure-footed, footsteps—the releasing of toxins through sweat.

Beautiful. All of the life and forest and earth around me, reminding me that there’s far more much larger than me and my pettiness out there. Magick, for me, in it’s purist form.

During my hike, Kelsi called. Asking if I wanted to have dinner with her—in her sweet way. It made me feel special and needed.

So I showered and made my way to meet her. We had a good time. She gave me the Jem CD she had copied for me. YEAY. After dinner-- sitting in her car, listening to tunes, laughing and watching her goofily sing along with things was great. The joys of simple, pure friendship. The joys of knowing Kelsi, and Kelsi knowing me, and history that has been etched into both of our souls. Simple. And complex. Remembering.

She left for class. I went home and just lounged—and found myself quickly asleep with my 2 dogs, at the crack of 8PM. I had hoped to bug Mark. Or someone. But that didn’t happen. I awake at 1AM, a bit alert. *damnit* I thought. I had missed my chance to chat with Khaya on the phone. “Oh well,” I thought.

I picked up my Anne Rice book and decided to read. I read until 3AM; when I figured it was time to get to sleep again before work, at 7AM.

The book calmed my alert mind, and I fell into a sleep.
Lovely. Restful.

ON a side-note: I have mailed my taxes in.

There have been instances when I take naps and feel guilty for possibly wasting time, but then I try to consider the fact that my body may genuinely need the rest. I have a sneaking suspicion that my body regenerates best through periodic short bursts of sleep, but I haven't had the opportunity to really test that yet. Anyway, I do think a good nap here and there is definitely a good thing, especially when your body is under increased levels of stress (whether that be good stress or not).

AND BTW - DO TAKE NOTE

FOREWARNING:

Before I forget, I want to mention that I will be in Redmond on March 21st and 22nd. (I get back from Canada on the 20th and leave for home on the 23rd.) I would very muchly like to hang out with you, so please let me know where I might fit on your calendar.

I haven't been hiking in...too long. I'll have to start bugging my dad to plan something, as it doesn't sound much like you'd want company and I don't have any way of getting to a trail on my own...
