I'd like to announce that I have fallen in love with some thing new.
My Crockpot. For inexpensive, easy cooking that takes very little tending to. It also motivates me because it's so easy to, "cook."

It's great for me seeing as half of the evenings I'm out doing stuff late and am not highly motivated to do much preparation after tiring days of work + whatever events happen after work.

I was tiring of the "eating out," bug, and decided it was costly too.

Hey, Inna. I should show you. I know you're in the same, "I want to cook" boat as me.

Hm. Yeah. It's worked quite well a couple of times now.
I've started with meal kits, and will be moving onto my own meadly of things that don't require ready-madeness.

Adventures. Adventures!!! I wasn't so inclined to cooking when I lived at home with my mom. She showed me basic stuff, like eggs and salad and sandwhiches, pasta and this and that. And? I never really was at ease. It's been my goal of the year to improve in this area. I got stagnant in regards to my improvement in this area as SC meetings took over my time, and I became insecure because [omgs, Khaya knows how to cook, what if I do it wrong?]... BAD Angela. No cookie. We only learn through mistakes and or, DOING things! Hah~! Oh - yeah. And it was mom's idea to try the Crockpot. [I was venting as to my food-SC meeting-late nights-dilemma.] She's a very smart lady.

I'm feeling better already. Besides. I've been watching him closely when he makes things. *blinks innocently*.

Crockpots rock. I'm definately gonna get one when I transfer schools and I'm on my own. Because you can make so much healthier food than that darn campus food. We don't have one here though, cuz my mom cooks everything with real pots and pans and all, but I still think they're such a nice invention. I like cooking, I just think it takes too much time lol. I will learn someday though (I mean, I know how to do things, I'm just too lazy to stand over a hot stove *shrugs*).

For me it's the whole time issue.
You know, getting so busy and then ending up constantly eating out and stuff, well. It just isn't the coolest.

Also the health factor rocks. I'd cook more if I had all the time in the world. That and when I'm hungry, I rarely have patience. Cooking is all about planning ahead, really. If you plan to BEGIN far before you get hungry, it's less of an issue. I tend to be bad at planning for my hunger, and so cooking is frustrating because I'm suddenly starving and there is less patience in that feat!

So yeah. Laziness, poor planning... etc etc.
Though I admit. Crockpots ARE planning in advance also.
So perhaps I'm making baby steps to getting better at planning :D

Heehe.

lol, yeah thats my problem too, i dont plan for my hunger, so I'm also grabbing sandwiches for lunch or other quick things. Which isn't bad, but meals are nice...I have actually been making myself breakfast the past few days instead of just grabbing cereal which is nice. It'd still be fun to cook something other than the basics though. (well, I did for my moms bday but yeah)

Crockpots are so great!

The best part is putting a bunch of ingredients together before you go to work in the a.m. and coming home to find the house filled with good tasty aromas.

I also take mine when we go stay in the cabins at La Push. That way a hot meal is waiting when we come in from the wet and windy outdoors!

What a brilliant idea.
I hadn't through of that![The vacation gig.]
And really. I love the aroma after it's been cooking all day. It's just nice to bask in the smell of the awaiting meal!

My sense of smell is by far the strongest one I have, so I really appreciate that one.

Hurray crockpots!

My two fav things to do with them:
In the morning, put a pork loin or shoulder roast in with slices of peeled ginger, chopped onions, and a little apple juice or cider. Cook on low all day, and it will melt in your mouth when you come home.

Also in the morning, put a bunch of dried pinto beans in with some bacon or a ham hock and some garlic and oregano (you don't HAVE to pre-soak the beans with this method, but it doesn't hurt) and plenty of water and cook on high all day--at the end of the day you have a big pot of cooked beans ready for burritos, taco salad, or whatever--and you can freeze the leftovers in batches to use later. Don't add salt until the beans are tender, though--that makes them tough. You know the beans are done when you lift a spoonful out and their skins peel back when they are exposed to the air.

After FoL, when Inna and I get together to do some fun cooking "lessons", you're welcome to join us!

Everytime I glide past this post I see that first "cook" and think it is a different c word. My mind is in the garbage on this lovely Friday.

Hey, I got a crock pot too hoping to make dinner after a busy day easier, but everything I cook comes out nasty. What are the meal kits you mention? Maybe I should start with those.

I've been trying to get into cooking lately too...partly in an effort to impress that certain someone, and partly because, well, I think it's a life skill I should know.
