Arrive: Laptop.
It is as small and lightweight as I'd hoped.
This bodes well.

I am posting this right now using it!
The keyboard is a tiny bit smaller than I am used to, though it isn't so bad.
I think I just have to adapt.
I know I have to adapt to the peg mouse, though right now I have the benefit
of hooking up a PS2 mouse.

[It has a PS2 Port and a single 1.0USB port.]

Though - my smart drive still works on it even though the smart drive is USB2.

All seems to have gone well so far with the new computer!
Very please.
Seems very quick and stuff. Though I am confused about how the Proc speed shows up on the
Settings tab, it varies when I look at it, which wouldn't surprise me if it were on
battery power, though it varies also plugged in. Hm.
It doesn't say 1.0GHZ, though, it's clear to me that it isn't as slow as it shows either.
*Furrows brow*

I guess I can just settle with that, I mean, it's not like it's as slow as my brother's Celeron!
Hah!

Anyhow.
Not bad for the price!

Eeee.
And it's square instead of the creepy looking Gateway Bubble that was the Solo 1150!
This is an Armada M700. Very, very pleased with it so far!

Eeee! Just getting my stuff together on it so it can become my little notebook that I take
everywhere with me. Next is to search for a nice laptop bag so that it can be properly transported.

I am also excited. Travis and I are going out to lunch.

Yeah!
It was a decent price, too.
Good times.
I was rather impulsive on buying it, though somehow, I doubt I will regret it!

I think a lot of the time, especially when you don't normally do such a thing, the impulse-buys are the best!

The cpu speed varies in an attempt to save battery life and lower unecessary heat generation. If it is running Windows XP then it is using a technology called speed step that is licensed to Microsoft from Intel. Speedstep dynamically changed the frequency of the processor to meet whatever your computing needs are as they change. You may be able to turn it off in the BIOS but I wouldn't recomend it unless you stub your toes on an incompatibility (which generally only happens in high performance applications like games or server services).

Ahhh

So, as my need increases, so would the proc speed then?
I knew in the past proc speed has been known to have presets for battery/AC adapter.
Yeah - it is running WinXP.
I don't see a need in that case to disable it. I'm not really doing gaming or this such.

I feel better now that I know what it is. Thanks!!!

As your need increases so does the speed (theoretically) up to the maximum speed of the cpu. There are some cases where the speedstep software doesn't respond properly and the cpu continues to chug along at a lower frequency than it should, but this should happen fairly rarely.

No problem.

Very cool. I'm glad you're so excited about it.
