Pets and breakups

I wonder...
How do people go through breakups without pets?
Rufus was THE snuggliest this morning.
I think I'd die without Rufus and Fritz (Fritz is just a clown).

It's also comforting to know that Rufus has seen it all.
I'll be really sad when that dog dies. Because he knows all my history, and it's a little comforting that he has witnessed my entire love life. (From age 11 onwards.)

Am I crazy?

Not crazy! My cats, specifically my tabbies, have seen me through many sorrows. Don't know how I would have made it without them.

Are you crazy because you love those you choose to share your life with? Hell no.

And besides, be happy. When I got my divorce, the worst fight was a custody battle over the cats. She won and (oddly/amazingly/ironically) she developed an allergy to cats over the next couple of years.

Dogs

Yeah.
Fritz had originally been a dog I bought Steve for his 22nd birthday (the other ex). Of course, I ended up being the primary caretaker, and when he moved out, I ended up keeping him. Mostly because he bonded with me strongest, and secondarily because Steve moved into his parents' house, and they are the "No pets," sort of folks.

As for the most recent ex - the man was never really into my boys. He tolerated them, and got better and better over time. Though - there's a part of me that thinks he's really relieved not to have to share his bed with my babies anymore.

Odd, thought, that. His heating bill should be higher. They provide a TON of body heat :)

My pussycat was this big monster tabby who never left me a lone for very long. When there were troubles in High school that really tore me apart, she'd jump up on my bed and snuggle right next to my face and just purr. Now she lives in England :|
They're a blessing really, those fuzzy ones.

Dogs are great. They love you, no matter what, and they can tell when you're hurting. They really do care, and do what they can to make you feel better...even if that's a lick on the nose.

I understand... I've lived with my cats (Sable and Damsel) for almost my entire life... I remember the day we brought them home, before that, I don't remember anything. I don't know what I'm going to do when they die... they're like my best friends.

Well, we all know that Rufus and Fritz are just awesome anyway. (And hey, isn't Fritz's birthday coming up soon?) But yeah, pets are the best. My kitty may hate the world, but she's helped me through many a hard time.

It's almost like animals KNOW when you need that much extra support and love.
They also seem to know when to do something totally adorable and/or silly to make your day (and your world) that much better.

And you love what you love, and if you don't have something to love, you make do. I don't have pets, but I have friends. Those work for me right now.
