I broke down
Aug. 2nd, 2006 10:14 pmI spent money I shouldn't have.
Except.
Now I have Season 3 of Gilmore Girls.
My life is complete.
For now.
LOL!
I blame my mom. She told me to go buy it. YOU SAW!!(&%@)
Okay, okay. NOT REALLY. No one twisted my arm. lol.
And at the market I found dinner for $1.60.
It justifies spending $45 on the DVDs????
HEEHEEEHEE. I am such a dork. I love my life.

Cost vs. Value
Date: 2006-08-03 06:16 am (UTC)A typical one-hour television series season has 22 episodes, that run approximatley 45 minutes each without commercials. That's 16.5 hours of entertainment, if you only watch them once.
A typical movie is approximately two hours in length, so this is the equivalent of a little over 8 movies.
At $9 each, you would spend $72 seeing first-run movies in the theater (non-matinee) for the same amount of entertainment. (If you're like me and watch DVDs over and over, you're getting alot more.)
If you are in an area (like me) where you have to get cable or DirectTV in order to get any kind of reception, you would spend $42 plus assorted taxes just to see 4 episodes in real-time (one month of cable.)
At $7-25 each, you would spend $56-200 on the equivalent number of movie DVDs.
It's not how much you spend in one shot (if you have it to spend), it's how much you get for what you spend.
If you buy a cheap pair of shoes for $20 and they fall apart in 4 months, the shoes cost you a lot more per month (or per wearing) as $250 shoes that last you 10 years.
