Ever miss eras of your life sometimes?
I totally miss LWTC and the early mornings in the cafeteria - buying a "treat" coffee for myself and talking to Carolyn and sometimes Dan in the commons like that.

I miss that. That "school all the time" era. Silly me.
And I had thought it was all I wanted to escape that.
Well, obviously it was something that I had enjoyed very much.
And I knew that at the time, but you know how it is when you're in the middle of finals. Or some huge project. And you just don't want to get up at 4AM anymore.

I am glad I went to LWTC.

Yeah, Life was alot simpler back then. I remember the good breakfasts they always had there. And of course all my good friends and classmates. We spent alot of time in that commons area.

I certainly miss bygone eras of my life at times--but I think mostly because they have come and gone and now have a certain retrospective clarity about them. I can look back and think about a time where I devoted all my time to mulling over literature in cafes, when I was a teenager and was so skinny I looked like a skeleton, or recall some night in my early 20's where I was drunk at a club and ended up meeting some random girl and getting lucky, or think more recently when I was more active in my spirituality, and say to myself "Yeah, that was awesome--good times." By contrast, it's hard to define the "era" which I am currently living in, because there is no certainty in the present about where things begin and end. Someday I'll be able to look back at this moment in my life, and it will have a beginning and end, and key qualities to define it. I wonder how I will remember this time period I'm living now.

I miss eras of my life all the time. I miss the era when summer meant I could stay at home all day in my pajamas if I wanted. I miss recess. I miss that era in high school when people randomly came to visit me or take me places. I miss lots of stuff...

I miss college. I miss learning and I miss the debates. I miss the way a whole class could stare at me for saying something that, while true, is just something you should say in polite company apparently. I miss sitting on a bench in the middle of campus at midnight, and just feeling the quiet and calm. I dont really miss high school, and I cant remember anything else, but I do definately miss college.
