A quick post.
Today has flown by.
The following are great things that have occurred:
I got my crown replaced. Permanent gold. Finally.
It isn’t sensitive to pressure. I noticed that it is sensitive to temperature.
It may be the receded gums from the wisdom tooth extraction – or it could just take a bit to adjust with the crown? If so, eventually I think the pain will subside, so, partially good news! It feels better than the other two in my mouth.

Secondarily, the better news is that TFC-Lady called out sick, although it is my hypothesis that she really isn’t sick. After all, she had told Judy and I she wouldn’t “be available,” this week. Hmm, sounds a bit planned.

Needless to say, she’s been out this week and she had finally got me the ORIs for the MDTs. This is good. Tim and I decided to move forward with the new laptop upgrades that I have been waiting 2 months to do.

I cannot explain the full extent of ridiculousness with this situation. TFC-Lady has had me hold off on deploying these because there was an “upgrade” she needed to be there for. She didn’t have time to do this for 2 months and finally she approaches me to tell me she isn’t going to do the upgrade after all. I ask to get the ORIs requested. 2 weeks later I get those. (It takes 24 hrs to request these according to her, but it took 2 weeks. HM.)

So, finally she says it’s all ready and the ORIs are all set. Well, turns out they weren’t in the backend tables. We proceeded without her and I called the appropriate people to figure out why, when the ORIs were “all ready,” I wasn’t getting state link.

Okay, well. The stuff wasn’t entered into our backend Unix tables.
Hm. Funny.

So, I called our vendor and they helped me through that. After that, Tim and I got as many as we could 6 or 7 of 9, deployed today. That means one or two are left to deploy – but effectively, the police will be VERY HAPPY when they sit down into their cars and note the all-new better-backlit, better-keyboard, QUICKER, spiffier systems.

And TFC-Lady then returns to work to see the stack of old crappy 5 year old MDTs; to realize that the new ones have been deployed without her. TFC-Lady held this project up for 2 months when I had them all set for the cars 2 days after they arrived in the mail to my desk.

I am vindicated. But I realize I am really going to miss client-side support with my officers. I’d really built a fun working relationship with my local PD.
They still know me. And I hope they associate the new machines with me, and not their newest primary support person: TFC-Lady. Because the hard work with client-side has been covered by me for the last 5 years.

It’s been a great 5 years. I know I’ve earned respect. And I know I’ve learned a lot along the way. It’s been great. And now I get to be primary user support alone for the rest of the city. And Tim and I discuss cross-training and working on projects together so I can learn about our server support. He isn’t going to hoard knowledge like TFC-Lady did, and he really understands my position because he’s been there. In fact, he was there.

We work great and him and the boss work great.
Now if we can only hire a decent DBA.

I wanna go for a run after work. I hope my lungs are cool with it.

I have other things on my to do list:
- Clean Refrigerator
- Clean Dishes
- Relocate weight set
- Change sheets
- Straighten up Bathroom
- Pack carry on baggage
- Pack main luggage for Florida trip

!!!

AND I chatted with Wanderlustlost today. This also made my day, (even if I was distracted with work.)
I love that girl.
It’s been a great day.
