Yestrerday was long
May. 17th, 2007 12:33 pmAlthough it sounds like it was a BAD day, in spite of all this I had an upbeat mood...
Another ordinary day.
Yesterday was a long day. Lots of stuff happened related to work. Projector mayhem, people asking for things hours in advance and failing to realize that they are not the only people that exist in the city. Others need resources too – and yet time and time again people tend to assume that equipment is available for them. Regardless.
Tim #1 requested my help setting up a giant screen for a internal showing of “An Inconvenient truth.” I got busy working so I never went back to see the movie. I pulled the usual 10 hour day, with a disgusting end to my day.
I had 2 help requests open from the jail. I am frequently reluctant to go down there not because I do not like inmates, but because I do not like small parts of the staff down there. There are few people within the city by now that do not respect me. Not to sound arrogant, but this is pretty much a fact. Although, there are a couple of jail staffers that I find are just cold-blooded to pretty much everyone; not just the inmates.
One who has been condescending to me in the past mostly – I imagine, due to my age. Anyway, that story can go in a locked entry. I went down there to take care of a couple of requests and one required me to move the machine. It is pretty much wedged down on the floor and the only way to unplug the cables is to squeeze down there under the desk and hit it at just the right angle with your arm barely fitting through the gap between the desk and the wall (and let me tell you, it still hurt my arm to do this).
This is basically rolling around on jailfloor. After dealing with said unpleasant co worker (jailer) – the kind of person who enjoys making everyone ill at ease… I came up and smelled like disgusting jailfloor! I was furious. It was after 6PM, my time off – and I had a meeting to film (after work job) for Development Commission at 7PM.
I ran home, after realizing how disgusting I smelled (like jailfloor, can I mention again I stench-ed like jailfloor? EWWWWWWWWWWW). Showered (scrub scrub scrub ewe w ew) and then had time barely to make a delicious lowfat cheese Omelet.
I then made it in time to set up for the meeting and get started on time. Typical normal meetings SHOULD be around 2 hours. Bare in mind this is after my usual 10 hour workday. These nincompoops (yes I said CUM) poops…
Had a 4.5 hour meeting for christsake. It was after midnight when I got home and I had been in the office at 7:10AM. (Intentionally late and I don’t give a flying fuck.)
These people didn’t want to shut up. I ate 2 cookies instead of a healthy snack because I was starved by then and it was past after-dinner snack time. I do not feel so bad about that. They were small and like. I needed some damn sugar after a 4.5 hr meeting listening to Development commissioners listen to the musical sound of their own voices.
What I didn’t know is that I get paid more if it hits more than 4 hours. I knew at the 3 hour mark I got paid more, but I had no idea it was the same for anything over 4 hours.
0-3 hr meeting= $60
3-4 hr meeting= $85
4+ hr meeting= $120
Concerts on the green are soon to arrive. I will be happy with that. Concerts are fun to film, where as meetings are not. And weekly! Wooo!
Anyways. That was yesterday. In the office for 16 hours off and on or something. I don’t even know.
