My 4th of July!
Jul. 5th, 2007 05:16 pmIt’s time for a decent update. Or I’ll regret it 2 years in the future and I want to know what the hell was going through my head.
I had a good 4th of July. Although tired on the phone making plans on the 3rd, (Tuesday), it all worked out just fine. I filmed the first concert on the green with the usual crew. Handheld on the stage – all black on the hot day. I was too tired for a run after work and we had Tuesday night beer at my place. Nice.
My shoulder needs to adjust to the handheld abuse. I then filmed the Down Home Parade/Festival for TS and the channel. Camera malfunction during the first half of the parade made me crazy. (The camera, I found out later, is needing replacement.)
*shrugs*!
Finally got it working and that was that.
The better part of my filming was the B roll for the festival. I knew I got a ton of stuff that TS will be happy with. And it is a lot of fun taking B roll of festival crowds. After that I ditched the heavy camera equipment (and the second day of abuse in a row for my shoulder) and took Rufus and Fritz for a walk as the festival winded down. (Less insane for Fritz, but still good exposure for him.)
This year was Rufus’s best 4th of July yet. He hates the 4th – he gets terrified of the loud booms and fireworks typically. His entire life he’s despised it. Last year in Jim’s apartment he bolted under the bed and got stuck. We had to get him un-wedged. It was horrific and funny all at once, and thankfully Jim was able to work him out without hurting him.
This year, he stayed in his kennel when I was not home and the ole town Issy is not a big firework community so there were no loud booms. I felt better for the poor guy! Last year, well – Tacoma and fireworks. Eh, there’s WAY more especially that close to base somehow.
It was very hot out. I sweated a lot while filming the parade and got some sun.
I then hiked Tiger mountain and felt very strong with that. It wasn’t all too difficult for me this time around and I did it in an hour and a half total.
Came home, showered (the sweat was flowing down me). And got ready. Jim came to take us to Federal Way to go to Sutton’s party. We had fun visiting on the way over and then I met Sutton’s wife and the other Mike was there (Blacky).
Had a few drinks, ate some good BBQ food, and walked down to a fireworks display. Walked back. Waited, hydrated, ate more (not much) and then drove the drunk BF and me home once I sobered enough.
Crashed into bed until morning when I went to work. Woo.
