Happy Birthday Mom! And other stuff.

I haven’t been writing much of substance. Oh well. Here goes.
Let’s see. The weekend was eventful I guess. Jim is moved in. It’s been great so far. I don’t miss coming home to no one really.
This weekend I went for an 8 mile hike with Jim to Talapus Lake. We almost went to Pratt Lake, but the goal was Talapus – so we backtracked the extra mile we’d gone past the Talapus trailhead. Oops. It’s typically 6 miles round trip – so it turned into 8.
Jim seemed a bit tired after that. Oops. LOL. We still had fun. And then the following day I rested and then went for a hike on Monday up Tiger. 1 hour 25 minutes. Not bad, not bad. I was running a lot last week, although I think I should hit the trail before the weather shifts too much and a lot of the higher elevation places are still hikable.
For instance, I tried to hike Talapus Lake in May and it was too snowy by the time I got most of the way up. I was forced to turn around much to my disappointment. It’s a beautiful lake. I think I should next try to do Pratt Lake – just because I was almost there anyway. Sides, regulus666 has inspired me to get more distance into my hikes. I’ve done a lot of 6-7 mile round trip, but not enough full day trips. Why not, why not!??!
Trying to keep being ambitious. Sometimes it’s hard with Jim – his motivation on distance and pushing himself is just not the same as mine. I occasionally cause him to feel like a wuss, but at the same time – that’s not my intent at all.
Anyways, so we had a good time heading to Talapus. I also think my pace is a little faster naturally on uphill hiking. Which… eh. Okay. I don’t think I’m that fast. Once I get to going for longer distances I’ll have to learn to pace myself more. I know from experience in the past I’ve been known to give it too fast a pace in the first 3-6 miles.
Especially with a 35lb pack.
I have yet to do any backpacking trips. I will contemplate my goals for next season and backpacking. I need to make these decisions pre-season. Anyways. I am considering signing up for the 5K marathon in Salmon Days this year. It’s a little daunting. I know I can run 5K, and I know even if I couldn’t, there are many marathoners who walk…
But that’s the big.scary.bad idea of actually holding myself accountable for an event.
I’ve been running either just under 5K, or 5K for a year. This should not be a problem.
*shrugs*
On the micro-managing of weight:
I was down to 153, but gained 2 lbs during my birthday week. Oops. This week I’ve been trying but failing with “good” eating. Damnit!!!
We’ll see where I’m at tomorrow.
Jim has been losing weight since he moved in with me. First, he doesn’t go out all the time, and he’s been more motivated to go exercise. I guess I rub off. He doesn’t like to watch me go out and sit on his butt every time. It makes him feel like a sloth. LOL :P
I really enjoyed yesterday’s Tiger Mountain trip.
Jim sat it out because his legs were still sore from Talapus Lake. :X
He was contemplating going on a shorter hike with me this evening, but we’ll see how he feels about the weather. I get off early; at 4, or 3 if I skip lunch hour.
So, my birthday was fun. I went to Marymoore Park for The End’s summer camp. It was fun because I got to hang out with Kelsi, Shane, and Jim. The 311 concert was pretty good too. Although there were too many potheads for my comfort. Blah on them.
Travis came over Friday to chill with Jim. Lately Travis has just been bugging the shit out of me. He blabs about how great his job is. How he goes here, does this. And then simultaneously asks stuff like, “What you don’t have any projects? We always had projects when I worked there…”
He worked there as an intern like 5 years ago now. Pleaaaase. He acts like he knows everything that Issy is and was. Well, once you leave a place things change after a few years. And no, we didn’t have that many projects, and the ones we had are no longer pertaining!! We found more efficient ways to do things (I found rather)…
So whatever. It just annoys me because he continually talks about how cool he is and how awesome he is when he is doing XYZ.
Just saying. It makes me turn into a bitter, cutting, bitch. And then he wonders why. So he hung out VERY briefly with Jim and left because he predicted that I’d get annoyed.
Aside from that. I have pretty much dropped on the parking issue for the time being. I haven’t heard anything. That’s fine. Whatever. It makes me nervous. The whole ordeal.
Just kickin it in the Quah.
That is all I have for the moment.
AND, Happy birthday to my mom today!!!
