Score for me today
Sep. 18th, 2007 03:01 pmBeen busy at work. This is good. September has been MUCH better. Hate thumb twiddling when it goes on for too many days.
Went for a run on lunch. Felt easier than I thought it should have. Could be 2 weeks worth of strength training - although running the bus trail near High Point Way sure is a little less familiar. That's why I started doing it on lunch. Also, half my co workers tend to drive by night time running route. And then the rest of the afternoon I get the question, "was that you running on blah street?"
Yeah. It was. Sure, it's something to be proud of. Running and being motivated doing it. I am proud of it. Go me, right? But, I do enjoy anonymity.
Also, it was too hot late summer so far in the 80's constantly and under the tree cover lent me good shade. It was easier on my body and stamina.
Trail running is a good change up as well. More hills and varying grades on this particular route that I like. I think as more time goes by, I'll start supplementing my runs and adding a variety of different routes to keep me motivated.
I think I may still recumbent bike it and mess with LJ tonight whilst watching TV or a movie with Jim. Mayhaps. I've been in old movie-moods lately.
Maybe I'll watch Beaches or something. Or Little Women. That one made me want to see it. I have good memories of watching that movie alone. I do so have fun being alone sometimes. And then run was a good alone time. Jim sat it out. Which is nice now and then - go at your own pace.
Although I have to admit, he really is a fantastic workout partner. There's something very special about our time together when we do this. It is a very good extension on our already awesome connection.
Random: My checks came in the mail. I can pay bills again.
And now, I should probably start on some work that I have. How exciting. MORE WORK! YES.

Date: 2007-09-19 02:58 pm (UTC)I've totally been there too. But the best thing is you can always get back where you were (I have trouble being positive sometimes buuuut) the truth is you can.
I used to swim a lot! It really is wonderful on so many levels. I go through phases with swimming vs not. It is a great way to spend time with yourself and your thoughts in a meditative way, I think.
I had a co worker tell me it wasn't a good workout. But that's total absolute crap. It is also a relief to know that doing a ton of it (swimming) is not hard on your body. (Joints, bones, what have you). It's a nice feeling.
Where as when I hike and run, I know my body in the long term has potential to take a toll. Possibly. But then again, apparently running can help with bone mass... (making the bones stronger and stuff)! which is cool...
Any physical exertion has it's own special awesomeness. Swimming is... refreshing. Cleansing. Sounds like that strong element of water is something that definitely has a place in your life for stability as far as that goes.
