Well, Damn. Farewell Rockstar. :(
Jan. 15th, 2008 08:03 amIt's been a pretty eventful morning.
Some good things:
I don't feel as bitter at the snow today (1/2 inch that came last night) because I was able to get my runs in. That has previously been my biggest source of aggravation. I went to the Community Center, seeing as I felt an extreme aversion to the outdoors. And it wasn't any worse weather than normal, I just felt unmotivated to go to Starbucks down Gilman.
It seemed highly motivating to me to go to the Community center... so I went with it! Didn't hesitate. Besides, I could get a new membership card printed. (My old one looked crappy). I went and got my run over with, showered there and used their water opposed to my own, and came home. Then Jim and I took the boys for a walk in the snow. Because after I got out of the Community Center, the snow had appeared. I realized my instincts were just queing me to stay off the icy crap. Yeay for that.
So, this morning - knowing that I am filming UDVC tonight, I convinced myself to roll out of bed early and go back to the community center. Yes, 8 hours later. I again tackled my run and showered using their water (I like to save money, hey hey right?) lol!!!
So, I've been pushing it as much as possible on the treadmills, knowing that they're different than the outdoors. I am quickly learning not to compare numbers from my outdoor runs to the treads. They never add up.
If I am sweating and pushing myself - then that should be enough!
So this morning was nice. by 6:15 I hit the showers. Tomorrow is a well earned DayOff(tm) from working out. Phew!!! Golly that feels good to hit mid week and not be behind in workouts. It's a mental thing. If I take a day off too early in the week it feels like I am catching up all week. I have done 3 runs in a row. I guess that means the SuperSet CTs on Thursday and a Run on Friday and Saturday could be the DayOff(tm).
Trying to maximize where my rest days fall :D
I Usually like to do Running and then CT the next day... hmmm... that also leaves Jim - who does not run in the winter apparently, with only one work out day for the week, just like last week. But I held off an extra run last week to do a extra CT day (making 3 last week) just so we could do that together on Saturday... he then felt sick and did not do it. He is quicker to back out for any reason on a workout than I am. Good thing I've started doing the CTs alone and they work fine! I was more hesitant earlier on to go it alone. Now I'm all over that shit if I need to be!
This is not bad, it is just harder to relate to.
So - other than working out the weekend has been VERY eventful as well.
Friday I went to get Ru's antibiotics. Rocky, my Grandpa's Epileptic Golden Retriever was having issues on Friday. I found this out and then ended up in an argument with Jim over travel. (Blarg). Was a realy pointless altercation, honestly.
Now he knows that my Virgo ass REALLY does need a plan to survive work months with a light at the end of the tunnel sort of thing to keep me going.
I went to pick up the drugs alone because I was annoyed. Rocky and Rufus have went to the same vet. I started going there because Rocky and Grandpa had good experiences. That day Rocky had had many consecutive seizures. He had exhausted himself and had to be carried into the car that took him to the vet. This sounded bad. The SmarmyUncle(tm) had to do this because Rocky and Grandpa probably weigh the same...
By the time I hit Burien, Grandpa and SmarmyUncle(tm) were at the front desk at the vets'. Rocky had been admitted overnight.
Got the drugs, almost got overcharged for something, made them explain and show me their error and remove it. Had to come back for Ultrasound pictures because they forgot to give them to me. Gar.
Saturday morning I found out Rocky had been put to sleep because his seizures were not stopping. It was causing brain damage. The brain isn't designed for electrical storms like that over and over and over and over again.
I'm a bit sad, but I know he has been struggling with these seizures for some time now. Ever since he moved to Grandpa's. We don't know why. We never will.
He's been around for a while, and last weekend I had a very good visit with him. I guess I was making sure I paid attention to him each time I went to visit because I realized his precarious situation. Any time a dog has more than one seizure in a day, it's a tough road.
And I had heard about him having a couple in a day more frequently than I thought was good for the long term.
So goes one more furry friend into the realm beyond this one.
Now I am surrounded with a cubie of 2 friends that have died. Gretchen, Rockstar. (I printed the one of Fritz hugging Rocky). I should dig it up and post it.
Siiiiiiiiigh. Also, bringing the remembrance of the weekend and Rocky was the picture from a week ago I had taken and put as my background. I can't stand dead dogs as my background on my phones. Happened last time with Houdini.
So the rest of the evening Friday consisted of hanging out with Mom and Dad. Got mom and Ipod to listen to during her walks down Casino road.
Went home super late.
Saturday was me forgetting about an 11.30 engagement (DAMNIT) and then later in the day going to a Seahawks get together. I honestly hate football, but one of my girlfriends (Mel) invited me, and I really wanted to see her. So, to the football party I went. It wasn't so bad.
Sunday: Went to a friend's birthday party later in the night. Had a smashing time with dear friends. Happy Bday again to R. You are a wonderful man.
Had hot tub time - wow was that fantastic on my muscles. Particular the arm muscles that I have been working out lately!!!! I hate to say it but... I am beginning to really enjoy some boost in my upper body strength.
Went home, crashed. ZZZZ.
Monday was great. I slept in; Jim went to work. I woke up, went to Panera. Hung out with Jim for a while, and then like I said - ended up at the Community Center and the rest is history. Snow, dog walking, dinner, and then sleep.
See, a busy, restful, social, and productive weekend.
And of course, farewell to my furry friend, Rocky. Affectionately known as, "You're too big!!!"
*sad sigh*
