Completely Compulsive... Tool T-Shirt
Jan. 28th, 2010 08:45 amHere's some backstory:
In 2006 I went to Coachella. I think that was 2006? I forget. The only reason I went was because Tool was headlining. Tool is my all.time.favorite.of.all.bands, band. It was a whole journey, I wrote briefly about it here in LJ if you look back to April 06 I believe - (the end of April 06) which happens to be right after Jim and I met ;)
So, down in Indio, CA - it was hot. We had festival'd all day, in 100plus weather (I loved it, for the record, because I'm an idiot.) I love the heat. I suppose part of this is why Bikram yoga ended up working out for me!
Anyways, I wanted a Tool t shirt. Desperately. So I stood in line for fucking ever with 923085029385 other idiots, trying to buy my t shirt. I even stood in line for Kelsi so she could stay where it was cooler. We bought our t shirts. The rest of the AWESOME adventures continued. Except. When I got home my t shirt was no where to be found.
SO! I was bummed out. I whined and whined. For my birthday that year, Kelsi took pity on me and for my gift, she chose to buy me a new t shirt!!! What a dear heart. Except. Ava, the Weimaraner dog (not sure how to spell this) got in to the mail package before Kelsi could. It was in one of those plasticy bag-type shipping boxes. Ava apparently loved the feel of that plasticy ness and shredded it. While shredding the damn shipping bag, her tooth caught on one single spot on my t shirt. Thus leaving a whole right in the left nipple area. Now, this hasn't been a big deal really... sometimes I wore a black bra with it and you couldn't even tell. Except *I* could tell. It bothered me every time I wore it (I'm writing this because I am wearing it today). Today I have a black bra with little red polka dots.
One dot keeps poking out. Needless to say - the ENTIRE time I owned the Kelsi shirt, I avoided wearing it. Because it bothered me to look down at my left boob and see where Ava's tooth had caught.
THAT is the backstory.
Now, aside from the shirt being from circa 2006 - it means it's also pretty loose. That feels nice when you feel like a looser shirt, but these days I work really hard to have a smaller torso. If you got it - flaunt it. ;)
Just kidding. But truthfully, the one I am wearing today is too big. Because the design of the shirt is good, it still fits even though it's like 2 sizes bigger than what I prefer to wear.
Today it was clean and I was running late.
While staring at my left boob hole - I said, "Fuck it." And went online to google.
And bought a brand new Tool shirt, in a more current size for me!
It was compulsive, cost me $30 - but I don't care! Hah.
Damnit. I waited forever in that hot line squished against 300 bodies in 100plus heat. I really like the shirt itself!!! I never, in the last 4 years - got to enjoy it as one of my "favorite" shirts, all because of a left boobie hole. Screw that noise.
There you have it, folks.
