Nothing wrong with my numbers apparently - my thyroid according to the test is fine.
I do find that to be good news...
Bad news... I have no idea how I gained 20lbs in such a short period of time.
And to lose it healthily will easily take me double or triple that time frame.
Here's to hoping errr... I can shift the right things to make this work for me?

I can't worry too much or I will lose my shit.

Double check to be sure the thyroid test you had done uses the most recent scale for normal ranges (it was changed within the past few years) and breaks out individual hormone levels. Thyroid stuff is really common and very easily missed with standard screenings. Just 'cuz that is an unusual weight gain for such a short time and especially for someone as active as you are, I would just double and triple check to be sure you're getting the best tests available. I know too many people who have had "normal" thyroid tests but when a closer look was taken there were abnormalities with a specific thyroid hormone.

Second opinion

Maybe I should go somewhere that specializes (talk to an endocrinologist rather than a GP?) And ask to be 100% walked through the levels, so I can understand it? Can't hurt, even if the levels ARE the most recent and normal.

Thanks for the heads'up.

Errr, last I checked - no...

I can always double check on that... though.
:) Pregnancy would be err. Worse than hypothyroidism :P
Granted, I've been doing my Birth Control with the every-other-month period (instead of what they now do as quarterly).
And the big reason I chose not to go quarterly was for early detection if the blah happened.
If I did get pregnant, I think I'd name my child "Blah."
:) That'd be super mean... ;)
I will check into that one. Pronto. The thought entered my mind, but I was thinking (not to give a hit against Jimmers and my sex life or anything) "Jee, we haven't really been boinking very often...."

(Once you've hit the big "together for some years," you see you hit certain low-sex phases, and typically the cycle changes eventually as I've experienced it.)

That occurred to me too...do you know that certain kinds of medicines will nullify hormonal birth control if you take it, which is often a way that women taking hormonal bcp get pregnant even though they are taking it faithfully? Always, ALWAYS check with a pharmacist, they always know more about the meds than the docs do.

And yes, I would check with an endocrinologist if you aren't pregnant, because they will take thyroid concerns more seriously and do the tests that break out all the different hormone levels. GPs can be dismissive of thyroid concerns, and IMO if the GP can't find anything wrong but something is clearly up an endocrinologist is a good place to start digging deeper for answers anyway.

Good luck!

Annnnd - a long while back I read something that said that about certain anti-biotics. It FREAKED me out because I know there was at least one time a GP gave me some meds and did NOT tell me that it could interfere/nullify my BC. I was lucky - obviously.

Fortunately... I'm not on any other meds at the moment! And not pregnant. But it was good to rule it out :P
